About the Role
As a Data Analyst within the Data Enablement function, you will be instrumental in helping Group Compliance and NFR stakeholders leverage ANZ s data assets to drive strategic, operational, and regulatory outcomes. Supporting both Run the Bank and Change the Bank initiatives, you will focus on data accessibility, integration, metadata and lineage management, and enabling advanced analytics.
You will contribute to a wide range of activities aligned with the Data Enablement strategy, including assessing current data environments, implementing solutions that align with organizational goals, and ensuring data is managed and consumed effectively to support decision-making, risk oversight, and regulatory compliance (e.g., BCBS239).
Support Data Enablement Lead in executing initiatives that improve data accessibility, quality, and usability across Group Compliance.
Analyze existing data environments to identify opportunities for better data integration, metadata management, and lineage tracking.
Facilitate and maintain key Data Enablement services:
- Data Accessibility (aligned with Data Management Governance (DMG))
- Integration Lineage Management (DMG / BCBS239)
- Data Quality Assurance (DQIM / BCBS239)
- User Empowerment through improved tools, data literacy, and availability (DMG)
- Business Alignment for risk, compliance reporting, and analytics
- Innovation Insights via analytics and visualisation initiatives.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Data Science, Data Visualisation, Risk Technology, and Enterprise Data Governance (EDG), to support data ingestion, mapping, and consumption processes.
Create and maintain documentation, process maps, and artefacts to support governance, audit, and project delivery requirements.
Drive continuous improvement by identifying and implementing enhancements within the Data Enablement framework.
Support the development of a data-driven culture within Group Compliance by ensuring that data is accurate, trustworthy, and fit-for-purpose.

What will your day look like
- Lead BCBS 239 BAU Activities: Ensure compliance with BCBS 239 principles by supporting ongoing business-as-usual processes related to risk data aggregation and reporting standards.
- Data Catalogue Dictionary Maintenance: Develop and maintain comprehensive data catalogues and data dictionaries to support consistent data understanding and usage across the organization.
- Data Lineage CDE Reporting: Track and document data lineage and Critical Data Elements (CDEs) to improve data transparency, traceability, and governance.
- Stakeholder Liaison: Act as the primary liaison between business users (e.g., Data Visualisation teams) and technology squads, facilitating clear communication and alignment on data requirements and outputs.
- Entities Relationship Data Modelling: Support the design and maintenance of entities and relationship models to ensure accurate representation of business data structures and relationships.
- Source-to-Target Data Mapping: Conduct detailed data mapping from source systems to target consumption layers, ensuring accurate data integration and usability.
- In-House Tooling Test Data Management: Contribute to the development and maintenance of in-house data tools, and manage test data environments to support solution testing and quality assurance.
- Collaboration with Risk Technology Squad: Work closely with the Risk Technology team on data ingestion, transformation, and consumption processes within the enterprise data platform.
- Metadata Lineage for EDG: Engage with Enterprise Data Governance (EDG) to provide input on metadata and data lineage, ensuring alignment with enterprise data standards.
- Support Broader Data Enablement Initiatives: Participate in additional activities within the broader Data Enablement scope, contributing to the organization s overall data strategy and governance initiatives.
What will you bring
To grow and be successful in this role, you will ideally bring the following:
- 6+ years of end-to-end data experience across analytics, governance, and enablement in complex, regulated environments
- Deep knowledge of the data lifecycle and Data as a Service (DaaS), enabling smarter decision-making and scalable data practices
- Strong technical skills in Python, SQL, SAS, and hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
- Proven ability to work with structured, semi-structured, and unstructured data to extract insights and identify patterns across systems
- Experience building and maintaining data pipelines, data warehouses, and relational/dimensional data models
- Trusted liaison between business and technical teams, translating requirements into clear, actionable data solutions
- Comfortable in Agile delivery environments, driving outcomes with adaptability and speed
- Skilled in creating and maintaining data catalogues, metadata, and data lineage for transparency and governance
- Proficient in data visualisation tools like Qlik, Power BI, and Tableau to deliver insights to stakeholders
- Strong understanding of compliance, BCBS239, and operational risk frameworks
- Excellent communication and storytelling skills, with the ability to explain complex data concepts clearly
